Press Release FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Mortuaries Square Off in Cow Milking Challenge
Don't miss DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary and Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Services, as they each participate in a Harvest Festival favorite; the cow milking contest, where they anticipate victory in the face of fierce competition. On October 2, they will get a taste of such competition as they square off against each other in the Cow Milking Challenge as part of the 2004 Harvest Festival. A favorite activity of the annual festival, the milking contest begins at 11:00 am in the small Town parking lot. The objective is simple: to fill a bucket with as much milk as possible in a limited amount of time. To the winner goes a trophy, their caricature sketch and bragging rights as the 2004 Cow Milking Champion. Past participants in the challenge include area bank presidents, ministers and insurance agents and high school coaches. The Cow Milking Challenge is only one of a variety of events scheduled for the family-oriented Harvest Festival. Also included on the schedule are pumpkin painting, caricature drawings, a petting zoo, horse and buggy rides, hayrides, square dancing, craft vendors and various other activities. A child fingerprinting station, a free service provided by North Manchester Public Safety and the Loyal Order of Moose will be offered. Autumn-inspired artwork from students at Manchester and Laketon Elementary Schools will be on display in store windows, as well. In between activities, festival-goers will have the opportunity to sample such harvest culinary delights as apple dumplings, grilled tenderloins, hot chocolate, home-baked goods and more. Full schedules of the day's activities are available at various retailers throughout North Manchester, as well as from the North Manchester Chamber of Commerce. The Harvest Festival is sponsored by the Tourism Committee, a division of the Chamber of Commerce, and a grant from the Wabash County Convention and Visitors' Bureau.
