Lifelong Manchester residents, the Hartings purchased North Manche…ster Custom Monuments in 2008 and operate out of their home. “We’ve been doing better every year, and it’s a good business. People need to commemorate their loved ones,” Harting said. He noted that they will make memorials and monuments for anyone in the state of Indiana. “It’s a good business. We just want to help families when they have a death – or before, a lot of people put up their monuments before, so they’re ready when that day comes. It’s inevitable; it’s going to happen to all of us,” he said. “It’s always nice to be prepared, so the family doesn’t have to do it.”
The Hartings chose to join the chamber due to the benefits provided by the organization. “It’s always good for the local merchants to belong to the chamber. The chamber does do things for you that you can’t do on your own,” Harting said. “It’s always been a good organization in North Manchester.”
